I have a NEC Electra Elite 192 system. I would like to create an extension that does not ring, but goes directly to voicemail, therefore not using up one of my ports. Is this "phantom extension" possible, or must I route it to a port, and just not connect a phone? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You would need to go into program 1-2-04 and allocate 1 one block for Call Arrival. This will steal 4 ports from being able to be used for stations. then go into 4-10 find the 4 ports that you stole in 1-2-04 and assign an extension number to 1 of the ports. Next you would ned to be at an attendant position and press speaker and dial 47 AAA BBB then hang up. AAA= the extension number you assigned in 4-10 and BBB= voicemail extension number.

Thanks for the info, smoom! Is there a way to make that a transaction box that is connected to another extension?

Also, I set up the CAR as described, but when I forward the extension to our voicemail pilot, it just takes you back to the auto-attendant. I did not try it after setting up the voicemail on that extension, though - I'm not sure if that would make a difference. After I set up the voicemail with CoSessions, I've tried calling the extension, but the voicemail never picks up. If I can get this working, I may not worry about the transaction box as described in my last post, but the transaction box is still a possibility, if it is at all possible.

In cosessions, in the mailbox screen you need to set transfer to no- instead of yes-X. Maybe this will help...

Silly question: Couldn't he create an SIE, forward it to VM, and make it the answer point for those trunks in trunk programming? Why does he need to uses CAR keys?
