Hi,
We have a NEC Electra Elite 192 PBX and I have the NEC IPK SAT software to connect into it and do some programming. I am having an issue doing the direct connection from a PC. Right now I have the COM port in the SAT software matching the COM port on my computer but after I hit connect it just times out. Another COM port we have hooked up to it which does SMDR works perfectly fine. Any suggestions would be helpful!!! Thanks

Your versions of software need to be compatable & a straight thru cable is used.

I think I am using version 4.66, how do I know what version the PBX takes? The cable I have attached now is a straight through. Would it make any difference if it was attached through a PCI COM port card? Thanks.

In order to use the SAT you will need a MIFM card installed in the switch, a straight through cable and the SAT software. What slot is your MIFM card in? From extension 100 (or a programming phone) press Feature then 3 and tell us what the display shows. Then open your SAT program and select help then about and tell us what version and build you have of the SAT software.

Ok here is the info I was able to get
I'm sure we are using the straight through cable.
SP036 V6.00 SAT software: 4.611 [46050]
I know the connection rates are supposed to be the same, is there some way to find out what it is using in the PBX?
Thanks for your continued help.
Matt

But, do you have a MIFM card. The question was asked, but no answer was given.

Sorry, yes we do. Once upon a time we were able to get into it. We are using a port other than COM 1 to try and do the connection. The COM port is an add on 2 port PCI serial card. Our COM port 1 has all of the rates but the extra card is missing some.

In the SAT software select Communications followed by Connect, select the direct connect button then press setup. Choose your com port, at 38.4 Kpbs 10bits 8/n/1
