Two weeks ago, I installed a DSX 80 (version 2.01). Since then I have changed call routing I-don't know how many times, and this is a 4-hour drive to Detroit (tank gott for TCP remote).

At any rate, yesterday morning, extension 303 had the same station speed dials I had programed when I installed it. All of a sudden, they were gone. Bleep! Just not there.

In addition, when I would go into their system to put them back, and send the changes...the next time I log on...BLEEP! Gone again...

They could not program them directly at the phone either (resetting the system had no effect either).

Oh and only 303 has this problem...no other extensions.

Hmmm (scratches head).

Well, several calls to tech support later, there are two possibilities left:

A) Back up programming to the Intramail, default the system, then restore it.

B) Replace the CPU card.

Anyone else see anything like this (I have installed 4 or so other 2.01 systems and never seen this happen).

There's an option in program 2111 that enables/disables personal speed dials for a station.

Check to make sure this has not been accidently disabled for 303.

That was it (boy, do I feel sheepish). How on Earth did it get disabled in the first place (it's not that way in the original programming...)

Ah well, beats the heck out of a 3-4 hour drive!

I wonder why NEC tech support didn't tell me to look there?

That's the one problem I have with the NEC's and the customer's ability to control so much of their personal programming - they get to button pushing. It sounds like this may have been the same kind of issue.

Kudos to DaveS for his quick, pertinent reply! :thumb:

The option to disable speed dials is not in user level programming. It can only be done using program 2111. Unless the customer has access to phone or PC programming, this is an installer error. (Sorry Jordon smile )

I thought of that, except that my earlier databases had it enabled on that extension...It's possible that when I was doing some remote programming I may have unchecked the wrong box, but all my remote programming has had to do with the call routing on the lines (no extension programming)...

Better to fix than solve problems (though I wonder why tech support didn't mention that).

And did I say it's great I didn't have to take that drive?

I read on the dsx website the other day that 2.01 sometimes has data corruption thru Remote IP management using port forwarding that they say has been fixed in 2.03.

ALLN1,
The data corruption problem fixed from 2.01 to 2.03 was only related to IP address programming, and only with certain routers.

When you get stumped by a strange problem that is only affecting one port I save the current data base to a new name and then use the copy function to copy all item from a good port to the port that is having the problem. If this fixes the problem it means I have change something that I should not have. Use the touch pad pointing device makes it easy to change a parameter as you scroll over it.
