Got a customer complaining on the dsx80 when a caller calls in and the caller id is unavailable the call gets disconnected. What would cause that to happen?
anothe question on call forwading Off premises , does a phone need to be connected to that extension att all times for the forwading to work? Thanks Sam

Question 1...I've never heard of that. It sounds like you have a carrier issue with voltage (the voltage gets too low on a call, the system thinks the call was disconnected and ends the call).
As to the second question...no. You can use system speed dials to forward calls to. What exactly do you have in mind for this?

I'm thinking telemarketers /call center with a predictive dialer that dials multi numbers and hangs up on all but the first to answer

The customer has a weekly publication and i set up extension 311 to be for news(people can call in with community news) the person that takes care of the news does it from his house and is never at the office so he wants 311 forwaded to his house

Do these people go to an Auto Attendant first then dial the extension? If so, instead of having them dial 311, have them select a free digit in the dial action table (I personally prefer to stay away from 3 or 4). Have the digit point to a system speed dial that you have programmed to go to this person's home (UTRF #2xx..xx being the speed dial).
Does that help?

The way I personally would do it is direct 1 to a ring group (like 600) and put 301 and 302 into that group. If this system has an intramail, you can make a group mailbox for it and set up a button (message center...600 or whatever mailbox) to retrieve messages.
I installed an 80 into a radio station not too long ago where we did that very thing for several different groups.

thats the way it is set up now but the only issue with that is whenever a call comes in both extension s become unavailable to all the other extension not like when a call comes in when the line is set to key ring
