Is there a setting to turn off the "Hold on while I try that extension" statement in the Elite 48 system? I just want it to transfer and start ringing. Thanks.

You would need to edit the prompt & record a sec. of silence.

How hard is that to do for a novice? Is that something that is done from the phone? Will it record over the "Hold on while I try that extension" message so it can never be used again?

You'll need a copy of co-sessions to access the prompts in the VM.

I would copy the prompt out to a file before deleting it just in case you want to add it back later.

Definitely save the prompt elsewhere as sometimes prompts are used for more than one thing and after you have got rid of it for one reason you find something else no longer makes sense.

there are 2 that you can remove, the one that goes "please hold on while i try that extension" and the one that follw your personal greeting b4 the caller can leave a message.

Use local connect to a keyset, answer the call on handsfree and press the mic mute button.

goto prompts, i think it number 6 and 9 u need to record over. press record button and as soon as you hear a beep from the keyset press * or # to end recording. The prompt should refresh with a duration of 1 sec. (don't just delete the prompt - it won't work)

sorry to be a bit vague but it has been a while since i installed the message manager, now replaced by the intramail & DMS.

I am in the UK so maybe a different name.
