I have just acquired a new customer with an NEC Elite IPK phone system. I have downloaded a lot of info on this system from the internet and I am slowly learning. Also I have just discovered the DSX 80/160 which looks like a sweet system for the price.
Now I am an independant Nortel tech and all my customers until now have Norstars & BCM's. Are any of you currently supporting both NEC systems and Norstars and if so do you think it's worth trying to support the IPK without NEC training and just getting parts from the resale market. I think I would like to start offering the IPK ll if I can.
The DSX 80/160 should be no problem from what I gather from NEC's website.
Any comments are appreciated. Thanks.

I've been doing NEC for nearly 9 years. The DSX is sweet! It is easy to install and program, and easy for the customer to use. The IPK II is a bit more complicated and has some features that I find certain customers have issues with.... such as feature codes that set and cancel features if you inadvertently start dialing a number without seizing a line first.
It's relatively simple to become a DSX reseller, whereby you can get technical support from NEC. The IPK II system, you must be a dealer (associate) in order to get tech support.

Thanks eriway,
I appreciate your input! Maybe I will stick to the DSX and forget about the IPK.

where i work we have 4 sites, 2 ipk 1 nortel cics and 1 8x24 that has been expanded quite a bit. the 2 IPK boxes are fairly reliable. 1 was constantly crashing VM hard drives until we upgraded to a flash system. The hardware (telephones) are solid but hard to get in the refurb market. The nortels i can get for XXX$ used and the sets for the IPK are a lot pricier. The programming is a nightmare and we just contracted the thing out to a re seller i handle the wiring and the nortel systems.
