I have a customer with an Aspiremail who recently had some voice talent record new company greetings in mp3 format and would like to upload them to the Aspiremail. Since it's not possible to upload mp3/wav files to the voicemail, does someone have a workaround they've used in the past?

We use an audio coupler between the handset and the player.

Could you be more specific? I'm hoping this is something I can just wire up but I need a step in the right direction.

We built our own using a 600/600 ohm matching transformer so that the audio output from the source is coupled into the transmitter pair for the handset. The winding that is hooked into the transmitter pair is isolated from the dc source for the handset mic by using a 1 ufd capacitor and 10K ohm 1/4 watt resistor in series.

We canabalized an old handset for the handset jack and mounted all the parts on a small pc board.

Just plug in a handset cord between the adapter and the phone.

Using the group listen function of the phone (press the speaker button twice while off hook) you can monitor the recording as it plays.

A long time ago Radio Shack used to have an recording/playback adapter that you coud use, but I doubt if that is still around.

^^^^ Dang! You don't mess around. eek

I suppose you could always play it outloud and re-record it via speakerphone, but of course you do lose some quality.

Is it possible to play the message in the MOH port via burned CD on a CD player, play it into a phone while on hold, and then record it into a voice mail. I forget, is it possible to transfer a voice mail once on the system into a different mail box as a greeting?

DMS is much preferable. So many more options, but I realize you've got to work with what you've got.

WOW...that's a little more wiring than I was hoping for. Tip&Ring is right about the Radio Shack device, check it out here .
Can't find any info on whether it's compatible with a digital phone. Thanks all for the help.

Wonder if it will work in reverse as it's designed to record the call rather than send audio back to the fone..

The product summary says it can record and playback through the handset.

It really doesn't matter if its a digital phone or an analog set as its the audio that you are working with.

Most phones these days use an electret condenser mic element, and the older sets used a carbon transmitter.

Injecting the audio into the transmitter circuit at a level used by the aux/headphone output will be compatible.

In fact the AGC circuit of the phone or the Vmail card will compensate.
