Have a customer that wanted to get calls while on the phone don't like that the operator is on the call with him and his caller. Is there a way that ext.300 can notify him back putting a btn or is there another feature? My thought is a paging system.

From your description, it sounds like the operator is using the VOICE OVER feature to announce calls when someone is on the phone. The voice over feature is set in system programming "Extension Options" in 2116-01, 2116-02, 2116-03 for each extension. Set these to "Camp-on" (setting data 1) to stop the voice over.
The polite thing for the receptionist to do, would be (assuming she has a HOTLINE button to that extension), is tell the caller "...Mr Smith is on another call right now, would you like his voice mail?..." then press the busy hotline button for Mr. Smith's extension then press the VM button. The call will get dumped directly into his mailbox.

Actually, it sounds like "barge in" is being used instead of "voice over".
Can the caller hear both the boss and the secretary? If so then this is "barge in".

Barge in was the feature I had enabled, but the voice over is what I should had turned on ,but must admit didn't do a good job reading over my features.

Dell, If they want to be able to talk to the operator without the caller hearing them they can use Voice Over and Reverse Voice Over so that they can talk to operator withour having to have th caller hear their "Behind the Scences" conversation

Actually, what you do when someone is using voiceover to speak to you, then you press the mute key to talk to them (if I remember right, reverse voice over is something else). Remember that the callers MUST be on the handset (you cannot use Voice over with someone on the speakerphone).
Be sure that you have the appropriate forwarding set as well as the voice over activated!

In default programming the Att. extension 300 is allowed the Barge in feature in station class of service. Just remove it in station class of service.

Got a call today that the voice over is not working, log on to post a question and saw where you guys had added to my post. After reading Jordon the speaker was the problem,I looked in the manual and could not find where you have to be off hook for this feature to work.Big thanks Jordon.
