Hi All-
I have an associate who is asking me questions about the Elite 48, which I was confusing with the old Elite 16 x 48 (circa 1980's).
OK now that you know that I'm OLD, can any of you give me an idea where in the product line the Elite 48 fits in?
ie, there was the Elite 1648, then the IMS (DOG), then Mark II (AAWESOME), then I believe the "Professional" Series. Where did they go from there?
Also, any idea where we can get a programming manual for this beast?
Thanks! Buddy

Elite 48's were released in approx '98 & ran till 2002 or so. I have quite a few in the field & they give me very little issues. Upgrades are easy, most cards(not T1 or Pri ) will also run in a new IPK II.

Dr. PBX is correct.
I also have several 48's in the field and they give me almost no issues at all.
Some points to remember about the 48:
1. Replace the barrel shaped battery on the CPU card ever 3 or 4 years. If you don't, it will come back to haunt you!!
2. The max system capacity is 16 x 32. Even though it is called a 48 port switch you can only have 16 trunks and 32 stations. This includes T-1 or PRI trunks. The D-channel for a PRI is has to be on channel 24. No way to change it.
3. Try to get the customer to buy an MIF-M card or carry one with you. You need it (and SAT software) to do database backups.
4. The programming is almost exactly the same as the NEC Elite 192 and Elite IPK systems. (I'll PM you a link for a manual).
Don't be intimidated, the system is a breeze to work on once you get the hang of it. Folks here will be happy to help you on your way.

After the Professional line, you had the Elite, then IPK & now the IPK II. FYI, NEC just rolled out the 8100 a few weeks ago! The 8100 is IPK II based software with all new hardware...
