I have a customer that wants to lock his station when he leaves his office.
I enabled station locking for his COS in 0101.
I can assign a pin number, activate locking (as indicated by display and winking DND) but the station is not locked. If you press ICM, you get the stutter dial tone for a locked station but you can still press a line button and call out. The documentation indicates that the station should be completely disabled, but that is not the case.

I have never enabled locking on a station before, so I don't know if I am missing some programming or if I am misunderstanding the docs in regards to what station locking is suppose to accomplish.

BTW - the system does have the latest software.

I think this is your missing piece, from the manual:

While locked, the restrictions set up in Class of Service 15 and Toll Level 7 are in force at the extension. When the user returns, they just unlock their extension to return it to normal operation.

You’ll need to program the restrictions in Class of Service 15 and Toll Level 7 separately. See the Class of Service and Toll Restriction features for more.

Stacy,

I have a DS1000 I can test on and I tried setting restrictions in COS 15 and TL7 but you can still select a line button and call out. I set EVERYTHING in 0601 to NO, turned off everything for COS15 in 0101, still can access a line and call out.

Have you done extension locking before?

I've done it on the DSX - not the DS. It was pretty straight forward and just worked. I'll snoop around and see if I can find anything else.

Edit to add:

Unfortunately, I don't have a system here to test with, and I'm stumped. The only thing that has me wondering is 1802, Key Access to OutBound Lines. I know that will diable the line keys, but I don't know how to associate that with locking only. It doesn't sound like you programmed anything incorrectly...

Setting everything in 0601 to No does not disable dialing of local and 1+ calls.

Programs 0603-0606 default to empty Deny tables. A Deny table means that only entries in the table are denied (all others are OK). I suggest changing these to empty Allow tables.

Even after this however you will be able to seize a line. The call will be blocked after dialing 3 digits (It has to check for and allow 911).

DaveS had the missing piece - changed tables to "empty allow" and it performs the desired locking.
Thanks Dave!
