For some reason the voice mail (Elite LX) time is off by more than 2 hours from the phone system (IPK I). Where do I change the time on the voice mail? I looked all over for it using my laptop on the VM system & went through all of the options of the DTMF admin. and couldn’t seem to find it. Can it be set to receive the time from the phone system?

You will have to connect to the mail via a program called putty. When you log in go to the command prompt and type in date then enter
it will then show you the current time and date.
to set the time and date enter.
date mmddhhmmyyyy enter
i.e 061915302008 enter and new date will now be displayed.

You will also have to remove the adjtime file from the root@vmail etc directory or when midnite rolls on and the adjtime file is updated the time will most likely revert back to what it was.
The above I was told the above by an engineer from Activevoice who is with me at presnt..

paulw is correct, because the time/date is set in the linux OS and not the voicemail itself, you will have to terminal in using puTTy to change the time.

There was a patch to fix the problem with the clock being off, and then there was another patch to correct an error with that patch.

Make sure your VM has software version 2.0.2.0 w/clockfix. This should be a free upgrade from a certified dealer!

Another thing that may help in the future is to connect the LX to the customers LAN with the appropriate IP address and GW so that it can poll the default timer servers to always keep the time in sync..

Only free from the NEC dealer that installed the system. We charge for upgrades to systems we did not install. If a service aggreement is signed, that is a different story.

One tip I was told, after the changes are made select reboot card in the maintence screen, I always thought when you selected restart voice mail that counted as a reboot, it doesn't.

It depends. some files that is a part of the Voicemail like changes to switch settings done via the web broswer interface just need a stop and restart of the mail but things changed at the command prompt via Putty need a reboot.. One thing I have learned this week working with an Activevoice tech is that under the skin this mail is nothing like the old DOS thing as far as out of the box setup goes.. This was one of the reasons that we were having so many problems with these mails down in my part of the work.

Here's hoping that the UN8000 on the SV systems is less command area and more GUI ..

Our dealership will honor warranty work no matter where the system was purchased. Easy way to pick up new customers. Hasn't been a problem so far.

Thanks for all your help! It sounds like the best thing to do is connect it to there network. I will do both.
