I have a customer with a DS2000 that called to tell me their phones are reading "caller id error" on some, not all, calls. The interesting thing is they have a Panasonic cordless in parallel that reads it just fine when the NEC has a problem. Has anyone heard of this? Verizon is the LEC.

In trunk timers, program #1402, you can adjust the caller-id timing. The default is 2944ms, you could tweek that number and see what effect it has on detecting the caller-id. I would double it to 6000 to begin with and see what that does.

BTW - First, I would disconnect the cordless and see if the NEC detects CID without the cordless attached.

This can also depend on which way CID is setup and the software revisions. Are you using the DSP setting or a older trunk card with a CID daughterboard? I've seen alot of problems with CID and the built in DSP's with older software versions. What software level are you running? I have a ton of DS series in service and have seen this happen more than once! Pretty sure most of the CID bugs were worked out as the software progressed to (3.22.12)and (2.11.05)on the old CPU's. By the way I never experienced the ds1000's having problems with CID nor the daughterboards that went on the 2000's... If it gets to be a real problem try to get the old card with the daughterboard!

Thanks for the replies. I have them up to 3.22.10 on the software, and it is using the DSP for CID. It will be hard to get them to leave the Panasonic off, because right after the install, the NECs failed to ring due to a Verizon problem (but the Panasonic did ring), so they don't really trust it. I can bring them up to current software rev. and tweak the timer and see what happens.

Thanks!
