Hi Everyone. We primarily deal in Nortel equipment and don't know the end all be all as most of you in the NEC world. Have a client that is moving to a new location, that presently has this NEX 2000 IVS system. It is a 3 cabinet syetem. Looks to have the ability of up to around 100 sets. There is a PRI working off it with 125 DIDs. The voicemail is an NEAX AD 64 Version 2.4, which looks to have been installed in the last year or so. The onsite tech person administers the system. We have a tech who can program and work on this system. With the present economical situation, this client would like to use this system and budget down the road to upgrade it. I am wondering what year this system came out? Looks like it was installed 5-10 years ago. Is there anything in either of these systems that may give the customer grief or possible issues they should worry about. I am going to recommend they use this for a couple of years and then look to move towards a voice over ip solution to tie all there locations together. If anyone can give me some info on this system it would be very appreciated. Thanks
Two girls later and I'm back.....lol...been gone a while but see same faces still here. Lol

The system is capable of IP trunking subject to licencing. It can be upgraded to an IPS which is fully IP capable but don't leave it too long incase NEC stop doing the upgrade (its just a replacement main processor). The age you guessed is about right and as the cards for the IPS are backward compatible it should be serviceable for the forseeable future. I don't know what the second hand market is like in your part of the world but in OZ it is very strong and NEC products here seem to last forever. There are systems still in service that are 30 years old so I wouldn't be worried about lifespan.

The IPS is a Good Upgrade from The IVS, But if Your Going to Talk Full IP to the Customer, I'd Go with The SV8300. It has all The Latest and Greatest Feature's :thumb:
