Hi, I work on inter-tel and vodavi phone systems but I have a new customer that has a NEC electra elite IPK phone system. The manual says that you can access it through the internet but there is no connection from the phone system to the network. I connected the rj45 connection to a switch and a laptop to the same switch and tried to find out the IP address of the IPK with no luck. I tried all addresses from 192.168.0.1-192.168.0.254 and 192.168.1.1-192.168.1.254 non of which replyed to a ping from the laptop. Is there a way to connect to the IPK through the db9 connector and what software is needed if so. Or is there a way to find out the IP address of the IPK through one one the phones? Thanks

The IPK does not have Ip capability without an SPE card installed. Do you have the IPK 2 CPU? Only the IPK 2 cpu can be put on the network via the rj45 on the card.

Look on the Edge of the card of the CPU it should have a I or II.

I will find out if it is a I or II later today. Is there a place where I can download the software to program the IPK? I am not a certified NEC tech. There is a card on slot 8 that has a RJ45 plug a 9 pin serial plug and a flash card slot if that helps any.

It looks like the IPK is a I since the card with the RJ45 connector is a VMP X which is a Voicemail Hardware Platform. The cpu card is a 244D 1 200 0 with no connections on it. There are 2 other cards with 9 pin serial connnections and 1 other card with 2 RJ45 connections that are connected to the DID lines. If I could get the software to communicate with the IPK that would be great. Or is it possible to create groups through the phone console so different incoming lines go to different phones?

I would just get a manual & program through a 16 button display phone. Much easier & faster. You need a MIFM to use PC programming.
