Hello,

I have been instructed by my employer to re-record and alter our current Auto Attendant on our NEC Aspire phones. (We have different people in different extensions and our current recording is highly inaccurate.)

Now, the last employee to successfully do this is no longer working for the company. She has left behind written instructions to press the MSG key and then select "72". The pre-recorded message attendant has kindly informed me that "this is an invalid option."

Then, I checked the Aspire Manual. On page 16, there are instructions for the Automated Attendant. However, when I complete step one (dial 116) I get a busy signal on the phone.

I have no idea what I'm doing, or what I could be doing wrong. I don't know where to even look to find the correct method of doing this. Any help is GREATLY appreciated.

Thanks,
Tania

You must first log into the System Administrators mailbox (#301) before you can select SA (72).
Were you logged in as the Sys Admin?

The phone you pressed the MSG key on probably was not set up to be a "system administrator" mailbox. So, the first thing to do is find out which one is. Now on the Aspire, the first extension (reception phone?)is set up by default as a system admin mailbox. Start there. 72 refers to "SA" or system admin. If that mailbox doesn't work, you may have to use the process of elimination and go around to a few extensions and try the same process. System admin is usally assigned to someone who has authority in the company and not a cubicle drone if that helps. If you run into a problem, you may have to have a tech come out to assist you via programming to determine who's mailbox is assuigned.
