Aspire S: Doesn't matter why (anymore) but I tried to update version 7 system software to version 7.32 The first part of the process ( load button , power on, hold load for ten seconds, release, until LD2 is solid green seemed to work. When I powered off, removed flash card and powered back on the system will not come back. LD1 lights for a bit then LD1, 2, 3, 4 all start flashing, and nothing further happens. I used the zip file for the system extracted to my hard drive and then copied them to the compact flash card. Can anyone help... now my system is down.

Make sure the Compact flash card is formatted as "FAT" not "FAT 32" Also try a different CF card.

Thanks for the reply ttech. I have two 2gig CF cards. Tried both of them. And I did reformat one making it FAT. The files I copy to the CF card are batch_vs.txt, Dsp.bin, dsp_vs_b.bin, dspa.bin, Dspdbu.bin, intradbu.bin, main_vs.bin, and a folder named FIRMWARE containing .pkg files 201011, 301211, 411111, 509011, 603914, 603924, 603934, 603944, if that helps. I'd appreciate any further insight you might have as the system is inoperative at the moment.

Did you back up the data base before upgrade? I hope so. Most likely the system will have to be set back to default. This procedure should not be posted. Call your local Aspire dealer before anymore time is wasted.

Thanks ttech, your talk of FAT , which I had already tried, got me to thinking about the 2gig CF card I was using versus the 32mb the system mentioned. XP doesn't allow it, but using DOS I was able to partition the 2gig down to 32Mb. After doing that the system loaded right up.
