from the IPKII spec sheet:

"Employees in your organization who use Elite IPK II telephones get more done in less time with the PC Assistant. It lets them manage the operation of their telephone set on their desktop with just a few clicks of their mouse—for easy speed dialing, call management, contact lookup and seamless CRM integration. This desktop GuI application resides on a server and does not require adapters on telephones. The application shares a central database and provides screen pops by integrating with many of the popular PIMs, including Outlook®, Act!®and Goldmine®.To find out more, visit necunified.com"

So my question is, what all is involved in setting this up? I'm assuming the "PC Assistant" is a program I'd need to purchase and license, We have ACT!, are there any additional cards I'd need for this or is it built into the CPU?

It runs off of the NIC on the CPU.

This is what NEC Masterquote says:

1)PC Assistant issues PC Assistant Client licenses in increments of 1, 10 and 25 depending upon the quantity desired.
2)PC Assistant allows calls on the PC and provides several features to allow the user to handle the call quickly.
3)Users can make outbound calls from Outlook.
4)Includes Elite IPK II PC Assistant Media CD, and activates 3rd party CTI (w/o Software Development Kit).

Agreed, works very well on the SV8100, different software.

Not supported with ACT, Outlook only. I have gotten it to work with ACT but it was a huge pain and took up a ton of time, not worth it. If you want to use ACT get the CTI USB adapter for the phone.

You have to load the Red Phoenix PC Assistant "server" software on a machine that is always on. It does not require a dedicated server, but you are better off doing it this way, or share your call accounting server. This server is the only PC that will communicate with the PBX.

Then the "client" software is loaded on each end user PC and connects back to the server.

Is anyone able to describe what the CTI USB Adaptor mentioned above can do? Is it available for the SV8100?

Thanks, Duncan.

I know the CTI adapter is listed in the IPK hardware manual. I'm sure it will work on the SV8100 on a DTH series telephone, but not sure if one is available on the newer sets.

If you have an SV8100, you should use the PC Assistant software. Works very well.

There is no CTI USB adapter available for the new DT300 handsets. As Doghart says the CTI apps work quite well on the 8100 platform. Can't say the same for the ACDMIS though..

The CTI Apps on the SV do work well, sometimes.. except when they dont.. smile And if the customer has a CRM system that it doesn't support then you're kinda stuck when a request for integration is received..

Hence the query about the USB Adaptors..
