Can anybody tell me, in a nutshell, what the difference is between IPK and IPK-II? I was under the impression that the cabnet/card buss is the same and the "II" part is primairly new card features.

I Don't Know if it can be done, But Here Goes, They Changed It for the Better. More IP, Different Software Program. Options way to Long to List. Really doesn't matter, Their Both Discontinued Systems.

ALMOST all the hardware is the same. New CPU (all new programming structure) and new T-1/PRI card (DTIU-40).

The basic sytem package is now 64 ports (including trunks) vs. 48 ports on the IPK. A new PKU chip for the IPKII is required to upgrade to the 256 port max.

Virtual ext's (max of 256) no longer take away from your system base port package.

The system can now be placed on customer network and programmed and backed up via TCPIP.

As mentioned above, the programming is 100% different, but once you're used to it it is much better than the old structure.

Hey doghart and rickman,
Thanks for your help with my question.
rickman: yeah, I know they are both discontinued by NEC but.. they are far from that in my facility and a long way from getting replaced. Since I run it I keep lots of spare parts around.

doghart: so the IPK-II programing is all different ea? Then I guess I'll pass on any deals for used -II CPUs and such. One R4200 version is enough for my brain!
Thanks again.

One of the main differcences for me is the option for the users to program their own phone buttos, DSS, and some basic Features, plus the caller ID and Call back are way better. Now the programming is different, but it can be web base as well as with the properatary PC-PRO, there are many good features.
The last IPKone software release was the 4.70
