I have an SV8500 installed at a site with 2 separate networks running. The IP phones all report to LAN 1 of the SV. PC Pro reports to LAN 2. would i be able to have LAN 1 assigned to 1 network e.g. 10.251.1.3 and LAN 2 assigned to another e.g. 10.30.5.63 or will this cause problems now or in the future?

I would think they would both need to be on the same subnet.

How did this turn out?
I have an SV8500 that I just added IP phones to, 35 total for now.
Customer is eventually going to add hundreds (500-700) of IP sets to replace their failing DRU's.
I know each MPH/PHD can only support 256 stations.
Please reply with your findings....

LAN 1 and LAN 2 should be on the same subnet... with that being said your ip phones can have any range af addresses that are in the scope of your IP scheme. we are starting with 100 ip phones but will be migrating to a total of about 500. i have yet to run into a switch install with 256+ ip stations.

I have an 8500. LAN1 and LAN2 are on two different subnets and have no problem with the system. The DT700 IP phones are on a VLAN to make it more complicated, still, everything works just fine. 80 IP phones and 300 tdm analog stations. I'm preparing to add some 800 more IP phones to this network and I'm not worried about this network setup.
And as a not for a post above, the MPH/PHD can handle more than 256 phones. When the protocol handlers are being programmed, there is a parameter calls 'regmax' which should be set to as much or more than the number of phones you are planning to install.
