What are the standard options for interconnecting to other pbx's on the Aspire side.

Running into a wall in trying to make this system talk to an avaya.

I have the other system programming in 10.23 but everytime i test call, i get a syn request to avaya. When i make a test call from avaya i get a h323 call request. but nothing happens.

Avaya test call i get silence after dialing all the digits.

Nec gives me a slow busy when placing the call.

Ok, so you are trying to do H.323 rather than SIP? I thought that was the direction that was suggested?

Generally speaking you are going to need an Avaya and NEC tech (who both understand their systems well) do a meeting and figure out something for you. Usually the bigger PBX will have more settings (or should have) to be able to compensate for the smaller system differences. On our Tadiran systems we do this often..luckily they allow us HUGE leeway to resolve these things in some manner.

Easiest way to trouble shoot THIS issue IMHO is to make sure to wireshark both ends to see where the call setup is failing.

Hi Aak,

If you connect two unlike systems (eg. avaya & nec), they will revert to basic H323 working. The Aspire and Avaya both support H323, and both embed extra integration in the data packets both of which are not recognised by either (or any) manufacturer! The only time H323 really works well between two systems is when they are the same.

Connecting different brands is possible, however the only common feature you'll get is call set-up as all H323 actually does is "Voice" over IP. That's why the manufacturers all "tweaked" H323 in thier own way prior to SIP being available.

Both of your systems will need VoIP compression cards installed, which won't be cheap, plus dedicated broadband services to maximise voice quality. It may be worth considering phone call connection costs over the public networks instead, as the functionality will be identical.
