off a PRI...their external modem...the message appears to pass me from modem to kts system then drops...

PRI might be the problem, same thing happens with faxes if not provisioned right.

i was locked out immediately following uploading changes (very basic, usernames on phones) so I'm inclined to think something funky with phone system. know of a back door?

I've had MIF-U10 cards lock up on me. I just usually pull the MIF card, pull the battery strap, slide the little black ROM switch up, wait 20-30 seconds, put the switch back, put the battery strap back and it will usually work again. If it's a U20 or higher... I got nothin'...  I've also had some CPU's just stop working via serial/modem with no way to get them back without initializing them. Good Luck D
