I hope there's someone her who remembers this
ancient software version!

I am the in-house telecom tech at a university
in Iowa.

The university has a 2400 IMG dating from 1984.
Due to the economy, we are considering installing
this "upgrade" as a stopgap measure..
We have run out of ports on the old one,
and this provides an easy ( temporary, relatively inexpensive) solution.

One question came up: Does it provide in-band Voicemail integration? I know it has the MCI interface, but this is compatible with only a few ( now equally ancient ) voicemail systems..

Thanks for any help..

I believe you'll find that nearly any Active-voice Repartee / NEC AD-40 can have the MCI interface added, or will support analog in-band integration.

And tight times or no, it's a matter of time before that old 2400 says 000F!

telephoneguy,

Thanks for your reply..

You say that Active Voice's Repartee could
have the MCI interface added, or could support
inband integration...but does that mean that the 5200 software supports inband integration?

I guess what I was asking is whether our only
option with 5200 was the MCI interface, or
if it could also be configured to provide
inband tones ( like the later 2000IVS )...

Thanks,

I can't say if that software level supports it. The RCX (which I believe is the model, to be that old) was considered a dinosaur when I trained on the IMX/IPX. I've only ever seen one of them, also in a college, and it was refusing CPR at the time... Error 000F, with a DNR order...

So my best answer is "I don't know," but if you have MCI running, you can achieve an integration by using a Repartee/AD-40. I'm assuming that the goal is to make a voicemail integrate, and not necessarily to do so with in-band.

There is another solution: There was a serial interface box which could be connected between the PBX and the Voicemail -- can't think of what it was called, but we used it to be able to create an analog integration between Nortel SL-1 Option 81 and Centrigram/Baypoint NuPoint Messenger. If you can find that device, you might be able to simulate inband.

Please do let us know what you discover in your experimentation.
