Okay, i have a nec ds2000 unit, Throughout the day the auto attendant freezes and voice mail is gone. Outside calls go unanswered by the system and you cannot call voice mail. BUT you can call any internal station or call out perfectly fine. We have to reboot the system to get it to answer incoming calls so they can be routed.

this happens at all times of the day and is totally random. We have logged into the system and everything looks fine. everyone that has looked at the system just randomly guesses at replacing parts. we did replace the CPU card though and it did not help the problem. The last few days the freezing has been getting worse.

Thanks.

intermittent problems are the hardest to solve ..

the voice mail would be my first guess since you seem to have all functionality except AA

have you looked at the grounding ?

which VM is it ?

I'm not surprised replacing the CPU didn't help

this is the type a problem that is a bit beyond the scope of being addressed online , you need a good vendor onsite who understand the DS series...

Thanks for responding Skip, The grounding was one of the first things i checked when i took over the maintenance of this property. Is the AA and voice mail all run from the CPU card or is there another component that runs it.

If its Intra mail there will be a daughter board on the CPU with Intra mail compact flash card.

When I had this problem with the 2000 it was a software issue. Need to upgrade to a certain level....then it won't happen as often.

What level of software are you running? Make sure it is the last version they put out. I think it was 3.21.
