Hello, I just started working with NEC phones about a week ago, specifically NEC Aspire phones, and access to the phone system via Aspire WebPro 6.22.
As one can imagine being so new at this, I'm having the hardest time trying to figure out what I need to do to set up an IP phone for someone's home office.
I was told that just recently a person at the office had an IP phone set up so he could use the phone from his home. I was given the extension of that person. However when I browse through the endless list of settings in the Aspire system data sections (especially the IP settings), I couldn't find anything different between the settings for that extension from the other regular in-office extensions. Perhaps someone deleted all the settings since the person is gone.
I am assuming the person I am setting up the IP phone for would have to have a tunnel created from their home network to the office's network?
That is all I know so far, any help would be greatly appreciated, like what settings I need in what sections of the Aspire Webpro.
Thank you thank you!

Yes. That phone has to be on that network via a tunnel of some kind for the aspire. As an IT guy you should be familiar with public routable ip vs internal. You should consider getting a certified tech in before putting too much time into it.
