Hello all, I've logged quite a few hours behind an Aspire, but this problem is making my brain hurt.

We are trying to install a Multitech Fax Finder FF230 into an Aspire M with Software 7.00, DMS Voicemail and a networked Aspire S (networked with VoIP). We have done several of these with non-networked systems which worked great.

The layout is as follows: A fax machine dials one of our fax DID's. The DID is targeted to a virtual extension number. The virtual extension is call forwarded to a department group pilot number. In that department group are the 2 SLT extensions that are wired to the modem of the FF230. The department group and SLT ports are programmed as voicemail ports, using 45-01-08 Centralized Voicemail. This adds a string of DTMF to identify the extension to the Fax Finder, which analyzes the DTMF and matches it to an "extension" built in the Fax Finder, then the fax is converted to a PDF and is sent to the person's email.

The problem arises when trying to install the above scenario in a system which already uses CVM in 45-01-08. We tried putting the Fax Finder department group in Local Voicemail (45-01-01), and things seem to be working ok, but the MSG key on the phones in the Aspire M no longer call voicemail, they ring the Fax Finder. And they use the #@!% out of the MSG key, so that won't work.

So what I'm left with is trying to get the DTMF tones automatically attached to the call without using voicemail. ANI/DNIS? ARS? Caller ID as DTMF? I've been going over the manual all day and can't seem to come up with anything.

I hope this makes sense and someone has a thought or two for me. I'd be extremely grateful.

Just got back from the site.

They way we ended up doing it is by using an Abbreviated Dialing bin to add the DTMF. Basically a fax call comes in to the DID table, the table sends the call to a bin (999), the bin dials another DID and extra DTMF digits which go to the fax finder.

Seems so easy...
