I have a cordless phone going dead and getting static.
I have changed the cordless and base set. Still having same touble.

When you say "going dead" -- while in the cradle or out of the cradle?
Had a customer with three cordless phones; they used to charge them up and then toss them all into a metal bowl on the coffee table. After a couple of days, each phone would go dead and need to be recharged... they didn't understand why.
My first step would be to see EXACTLY what the customer is doing with the phone.

It would also help to know what model of cordless. There are a multitude of wireless options on the 8100.
