Jeff it may be time to start thinking about finding someone you trust to back you up while you are away. No way one of my customers would wait that long with or wothout a cellphone

I do have someone I can use...but the customer was willing to wait. It's a family friend so he trusts that I would take care of him, and I don't disappoint my customers smile
He works all day Sun-Thurs and said he didn't really miss not having his phone. I suppose the extra charge for Linebacker is probably worth it though.

I have a business client that was paying Bell over $200/month for "their" plan, but gave strict orders to his employees to never call Bell for anything.

Then the charge is a heck of a lot cheaper there for residential than here. Here it's at least $6/month. Take into consideration how often you or anyone needs residential interior repair, then do the math.

Well like I said, he was waiting to wait for me because I charge a lot less...yes he had to wait a few weeks, but I showed up on time that day :p
Try getting at&t to commit to a specific time.
I know we had Linebacker on our home phone before we switched to Time Warner...my dad had no problem paying for it though we only had to use it once or twice.

My grandmother had what you guys call linebacker, Its just the inside wire maint plan here. Verizon sent a "tech" out and he could not fix the issue, he actually said the wiring was tampered with. The repair was nothing more then replacing an outside bridle pair, running a new line up the side of the house and dropping it on a jack that fed the rest of the apartment. He spent two hours trying. They called me, I asked them to leave me 25' of wire and a jack. Took a trip to visit grandma, 20 min after arriving all was working.

I remember a few years ago I called Verizon out to check crosstalk on our phones. We had Linebacker and as soon as they came out, refused to fix it because we had old standard 4 wire (RGYB) instead of Cap-5. House was 125 years old. Tried to get money back from Verizon because I thought that was fraudulent to pay for Linebacker all those years, then when we needed it, they wouldn't come through.

There's nothing wrong with quad wire, bridle wire (3 conductor) or even a single pair. You should have forced Verizon to fix it!

I've found crosstalk to be a common issue on older quad wire...

We used to wire quad wire for 2 lines as r-blk t&r1 Y-grn tr2. most of the times that took care of cross talk.
