I need to cover a 7000 SF residence shaped like an "L" with AT&T cell coverage. It is in a fringe area that has 3 bars in one spot (end of driveway), but mostly has 1 bar or none. The house has a metal roof and is a single story. I have seen some info on the WEB but with all the marketing hype I can't tell what is good and what isn't.

Has anyone been down this road?

Thanks,
Ted

Wilson Co.
I installed one in large office with 3 small dome type ant.. Only one side of building had any cell coverage 1 bar max signal strength. Installed a window mount inside ant. and 3 ceiling ant. spaced for coverage. 5 bars on ant. side and 4 bars for rest of floor. Can buy external mount ant. if needed.

Thanks for your reply,
Interesting, but I don't know if the femtocell will work. The DSL connection is sketchy at the house. It is rural. Sometimes it slows down and I am afraid the QoS is in the mud. Do you have any in the field now?
Thanks,
Ted

As I read more about the femtocell it looks like it is dedicated to individual services like AT&T or Sprint ect. Some of the repeaters I have been looking at open up everything except Nextel.
There will be people at the house using services other than AT&T on occasion so a repeater/booster will help them out as well while a femtocell might not. I read that the femtocell has a range of 10 meters. I need to cover 7000 SF more-or-less so It might not be powerfull enough.

We have used the Wilson products with great success.

If you call them they can help design a system just for your application.

Cell phone booster requires an antenna in a spot (often outdoors) that has good reception--the amplifier can boost indoor signal strength only to the level the outdoor antenna receives. But they work with any normal handset, and can even boost 3G data access.
