I'm trying to setup a user with a Plantronics headset. This is the kind with the lifter that simply lifts the receiver from the cradle on an incoming call.
I had in mind to setup the system whereby when this user receives a call, our receptionist places the caller on "local hold, not a park position" and dials the users three digit phone extension and then hangs up their receiver. I had hoped that the users phone would then ring, and he could answer the call from his headset. The breakdown in this plan is that the users desk phone rings, but nothing is ever heard in the headset, so after 5-6 rings the call goes to that user's VM.
Since this didn't work, I wanted to perhaps change this user's 3 digit extension number to be his DID number, which is callable from the outside world to see if the headset would then ring when the receptionist forwards a call to him.
I'm not finding where DID numbers are setup in the Aspire. When I look at section 10-03 of the NEC Aspire, it tells me that "the package is not installed" so it seems it wasn't setup that way.
What other areas should I be looking at?

In the Aspire, DID translations are porgrammed in 22-11.
I don't think this is your problem though. If you are using a Plantronics wireless headset with lifter, you aren't going to hear the phone ring in the headset unless the system has one of those little pickups on it that attaches to the speaker on the phone.
Otherwise, you would need a headset that plugs into the headset jack on the phone - but that must be a compatible unit.

Yes, the Plantronics headset lifter mechanism has a built in microphone that listens for a "ring" from the phone. Once it hears the ring it starts sending a tone to the headset. The microphones are not very sensitive (don't want false alarms from background noise) so you may want to try and turn the ring volume up a notch or two and see if that rectifies the problem.

If you're using the little black Plantronics box that attaches between the phone and the ehadset, there used to be settings under the battery cover which permitted you to select the best setting (1-5, as I recall) for your set-up. You might need to do some trial-and-error with those.

I did have an issue once where the user had background music enabled on her phone. During louder peaks in volume, her wireless headset would ring!

thanks for the replies folks. I'll take a look at the phone settings regarding the ringer.
