We just replaced a flash mail that had died. Customer maintains that they previously did not have to use security codes on their mailboxes. I cant find how to disable. Any ideas?

newer version of software requires security codes, just the way it is. Cannot be changed on the VMS, but on the elite LX (Linux)you could turn it off.

Early versions of Elitemail, etc., were susceptible to hacking if people didn't have passcodes (or had weak, generic passcodes).
