Good afternoon everyone,

First experience with an NEC Aspire. This customer used to have 2 systems connected using a point to point connection but dropped that several years ago. They are asking me if they should keep this system or go to a hosted PBX. System seems clean and they don't have any problems. Just looks like it hasn't had any maintenance for a while.

I logged into the web interface and it appears to be version PC Programming : 06.22 (US Release, M/L)

How out of date is that, and will this support a few IP Phones. Right now, they would like to add a few IP phones in another building rather than connecting the entire pbx that was once over there.

Let me know if I've given enough information.

Thanks,
Woody

I think 7.32 is latest software and is free for a certified NEC tech to download and update their software. If they have a VOIP card they can most certainly deploy IP phones. Going hosted considering the up time they enjoy now would be a disaster waiting to happen.

If they own the NEC, hosted will cost them more money and headaches. Nothing beats 5 9s uptime.

I agree with both of you. They didn't feel their last company was providing them with good service and dropped them, but I need to get this thing going. Does NEC offer a list of preferred vendors?

The links have been down for a few days on nec's site, but I sent a message to their general mailbox.

Really? I have had zero issues getting to all the NEC sites and I use them every day.
