We're using speed dial to access paging but it takes 3 seconds after you dial the code before you hear the page tone. Do you know how to speed this up? Is there some kind of timer involved?
Thanks.

Usually paging equipment will be connected to CO port and it's an access code to fetch CO port and it is immediate.

It's an analog extension connected to a co port on the trunk card. I can manually access it through direct trunk access and it cuts straight through, but when it's accessed through speed dial there is a 3 second delay.

Is there a character you can add to the end of the speed dial number to tell the system you are done dialing? I am guessing the system is waiting to see if there are more digits to be entered, hence the delay......

That's what I'm thinking, probably "#". Will try.

Adding "#" didn't help. Could it be the inter-digit timer? If so, what command?

Still 3 second pause, which is defined by NEC as the timer for *, or P. *or P Not in dial string for speed dial. ?

I believe you are going down the wrong path with this, as if it were these timers, you would have the same problem when direct accessing the system. I believe the system may be detecting dial tone or simply pausing to allow dial tone to be presented! What is stored in the speed dial?
