Just taken over an account with a DSX 160. Upon first time communication, found that it was release 1.1 Upgraded to 3.33. All seemed fine until 3 days after I left the site, cutomer calls and states that the FAX and CC machine not working. I verified programming was ok, reseated card, reset switch, still no dialtone. Verified right out of the card that the dialtone was still not present. Did not have a sparecard. Spoke to a tech in Louisiana, he stated that the upgrade may have caused the issue, that he seen this before and had to save the database, reinitialize the switch, and reload the database. I contacted NEC tech support, they said DO not do this, that it was just a coincidence, to order a new 16 port analog card. Any ideas?

Upgrading from a 1.1 to a 3.33 would have some effects on the internal numbering plan of the DSX.
After up grading did you do a system initialize ? Did you check your analog ports up/down from the extensions you say are dead?
Check your first digital station and see what the extension number is after upgrade.

I did not reinitialize because they did NOT want the numbering plan to change. My analog ports show up, the card is seen in software, I uninstalled the card in software, turned off the system, manually removed the card, powered up the system to verify it was not "seen", turned off the system again, reinstalled the card, powered back up, the switch saw the card, shows active. The extensions did not change, due to me NOT initializing.

From what you did there is no reason it shouldn't work. It may have been a failed firmware upgrade to the analog card.
I would try updating the firmware again. Maybe the Card firware is corrupted. You can watch the boot process of the system with hyperterminal hooked up to the serial port.
