Installed a DSX 40 today, was given 192.168.1.240 for a static, was given the external 81.xx.xx.xx I was unable to access it remotely. I then attempted to connect via cutomers desktop, no go! I contacted the Data Vendor again, they stated they Port forwarded 8000 to the 192.168.1.240 I explained that I could connect directly with USB and Ethernet, but as soon as I plug into the switch, I cannot hit it. They of course stated it is my issue. NEC tech support says it is not. I tend to agree with NEC, but here I am second guessing myself again. Any ideas?

Can you ping it from the LAN? Does the ethernet port on the DSX show link when you plug it into the switch?

NEC is correct. I would disconnect the DSX from switch and see if you can ping that IP again to make sure something else isn't using it.
