ok status update:
when the CF Card is loaded in the CIO slot the system will boot... when removed it does not..
PC Pro does now show v. 1.61 as what it is operating on. (ok good, sorta) would like to remove the cf card but if not possible that is fine.
when I call in to the trunk 1, it just rings no Auto attendant picks up, ext 101 does show the line being active.
The phones all seem to have their previous settings, except msgs have been erased.
any ideas..

Edit.
I must have been typing in the below while you were doing your status update.
I haven't seen this before but it looks like a remote update has taken place if it would boot without the CF card in place. By all messages being erase do you mean that all AA promps / user greetings have gone or the InMail not working..?? .......................... Hmm. Could be. I have seen this in my lab when I have done upgrades
You can check to boot up from the CPU buy plugging in a straight serial cable to serial port 1 on the main chassis. On the top of the CPU blade you will see two DIP switchs called SW3. Set the bottom one to the left, this turns on debug output. Connect with hypertrm set at 38400 and power on the system . You will see the boot process and at some point if it stops it will most likely say something like " Main.bin file not found " or something similar.
I have had this happen to me in the lab and the only way i have fixed this is to downgrade the software again. You can leave the serial cable connected while you do this and you can follow the upgrade process. It should look something like this. COPY A:\DSP.BIN C:\DSP.BIN COPY A:\MAIN.BIN C:\MAIN.BIN COPY A:\DSPDBU.BIN C:\DSPDBU.BIN COPY A:\INTRADBU.BIN C:\INTRADBU.BIN
Which is what is in the batch64.txt on the upgrade CF card. ........................ If none of this fixes it you may have to call NTAC unless someone else has seen this before..

Hey Paul, (sent a pm)
I got the unit to boot up by leaving the CF card. Holding the reset switch and powering up.
With the CF card in place it will boot up and load the new firmware. ...
New problem all settings are gone... I had thought I had saved the backup before any of this... turns out I downloaded and did not hit save... yeah I know bad bad mistake.. So know I am trying to redo everything.
I have the extensions and numbering in place: However the Inmail is not set and not picking up for either trunk lines or message button on D-Term. i also can't dial the inmail pilot number. I believe it is due to the port/pilot settings.
Needs to be: Extensions 101-117 VM: Pilot 300 (guess it could be 350 if needed) Auto Attendant Pick with Routing Mailbox at 002 Dial Action Table = 2
Dial Action Digit 1 > ext 101 Dial Action Digit 2 > ext 102 Dial Action Digit 3 > Announcement Message 06 Dial Action Digit 9 > Directory Dial Action Digit 0 > Ext 101
If you can confirm these are correct and if i missed something you can think of please let me know.
config:
11-01: 1x = 3 2x = 3 3x = 3
11-07 Dept 1 = 300 22-02-01 DIL,DIL,DIL,DIL 22-04-01 = 101 22-07-01 = 1,1,, 47-1-1 Inmail 47-1-17 Ports 017-032 47-10-01-02

So with the ongoing inmail saga.. after working though two full resets and reconfig everything here is where I am at which I hope is a simple config fix..
If I dial from an extension the inmail pilot it rings as busy...
ideas...
