The max possible delay is something like 500ms. I mean, I don't think there is a router that is made that reboots in that amount of time. 500ms ping is HUGE in VOIP apps and is totally reasonable. Application is everything, are you using a centralized vm..call center etc...

Unfortunately, if you are using VOIP YOUR network needs to be up to snuff and the IT staff absolutely needs to understand that point. Pulling the plug during business hours, affecting both data and voice without planning ahead for it, I am sorry to say, is really really really bad.

That being said, you can most certainly make both systems run independent with 4 digit dialing. Again, the devil is in the details.

@Coral Tech - If I change the 51-05-02 timer to 120 is that the same as telling Netlink not to failover until 120 seconds of not recieving a keepalive response from timer 51-05-01? Also if I increase this timer do I also need to adjust 51-05-07 in any way?

I am thinking if I do this the phones will blank out for this time while the Firewall is rebooting because they are trying to read the database on the Primary but at least the phones will not come back on and then blank out again when the connection to the Primary is back. Am I thinking of this correctly?

Yes our Voicemail is on the Primary.

Thanks for your reply.

No, there is another timer in 90 you have to change. Your vendor should be able to call tech support on this and I believe is has to be on a phone to program this timer..and it HAS to be done on site.

I found this in a manual online...Why does this say it will:

51-05-02 : Timer Settings for NetLink – Keep Alive Response Waiting Time
The secondary SV8100 waits this time (0, 5~10800) for response to the Keep Alive
packet to confirm communication with Primary SV8100. If no response is received, Fail-
Over occurs. A setting of 0 disables this and the SV8100 waits indefinitely for a
response from the Primary SV8100. For Fail-Over to occur, this time must be set to an
entry other than 0.
