Has anyone ever used a DSL in a phone system? Although several distributors have assured me that a DSL line can be used in a phone system (such as a key system), as long as a filter is used.
It seems to me that the DSL filters that are used for analog sets are for single sets, and might have glitches when used on multiple digital sets in a system.

Has anyone actually tried it?

Many times including my shop. Never a problem. It's a good upsell for those who can get.

There is another way.......put a 1K resistor accross the tip(green) and ring(red) at the Demarc...basically before the tel switch.

"put a 1K resistor accross the tip(green) and ring(red) at the Demarc"

Won't that just take the line off hook permantly?

One resistor across tip and ring would short the line. However bridging tip withone and ring with another probably do the trick, its like adding almost 7 miles of 24 gauge in resistance to the run. If you did it at the demarc would want after you broke the dsl out otherwise you would probably kill your dsl. I don't know for a fact but dsl filters probably use resistance.

Actully, a DSL filter is a low pass filter, to keep you from hearing the higher frequency DSL signal over your conversation.

Here is a link to a schematic:

https://www.benjammin.net/www/pages/techtips/dsl-filter.html

I have several old phones, an Automatic Electric 40 desk set and also a wall set, the frequency response of those doesn't pass the DSL into the earpiece, so no filter necessary on them.
