I have a customer trying to record a police line that is on a T1. The logger guy can't record a digital port as in the digital phone. So I programmed the DID to ring an analog phone port that I x-connected to a coid port and made that port ring on a phone. This way he could hook up his logging equipment on the anolog phone port. It works except when the call is answered both parties hear each other plus dial tone. Any ideas? Thanks.

Can't they record off the analog station port itself and leave the COID out of the scenario?

If the parties hear each other plus dial tone, 90% chance there's a cross-connect error and you've got a split par on a 66 block.

If the cross-talk is faint, it's probably on the ring wire; if the cross-talk is louder, it's probably on the tip wire; if the cross-talk is just as loud as the conversation, the two ports may be daisy-chained.

As a diagnostic, go to the MDF and connect your buttset at the analog port. When you go off-hook, you should see one port on the system light up. If two ports light up, those two ports are miswired and that is the source of the cross-talk.
