Hello,

I just got a phone system from an existing company and I have successfully completed all the basic configuration.

- Incoming calls work
- Extension calling works
- Outgoing calls work

But I am pulling my hair out setting up the voicemail. I've gone through all the Voicemail guides and it just isn't working. All of the guides say to log into the administrators voicemail but I cant seem to do that.

The voicemail card is labelled 4DMSU.
I have 1 trunk card and 2 extension cards.

Very simple setup, i'm not sure why its not working...

Any ideas would help a ton!

Install the card, program the ports, put the ports in a department group. Plus a few more things, but that should get you started.

Thanks but I'm pretty sure I've done all that. I'm not 100% sure what you mean by program the ports though.

Would anyone experienced with NEC Aspire be available for a consult over the phone? If so let me know your hourly rate.

I feel like I'm just missing one or two steps. After that I should be good.

This was an existing system and I did a factory reset on the main Unit but do I have to do a factory reset on the DMS unit as well?

If so, how do I do that because I didn't see that option on the WebPro interface

Pretty much what DrPBX said. You may want to consider getting a certified NEC tech out to get it going.

Yes, I know I probably should but I'm very technical (network admin/programmer) and stubborn smile

So I want to just figure it out and I feel like I'm just missing one or two steps.

I'm going to see if I can do a factory reset tomorrow and see of that helps. I have a feeling all the old voicemails are still setup even through I did a factory reset on the CPU unit.

Again if anyone is available for 1 or 2 hours tomorrow via phone I would gladly compensate you for your time.

Ok so here is an update:

I am able to get into the DSM web interface.
I ran the "Install System" and "Install Ports"

but still when I hit the MSG key from any handset including 301 it just has a busy signal...

So I ran the install on the DSM web setup, I setup the group (to 2) and all the other settings the install manual tells you to do.

Any help would be great.

Thanks!

Dial the vm department group number and see if it works. The MSG key has to be changed to a VM key in programming.

Ya I already reprogrammed the key to go to VM not MW. and I setup a function key to go to the VM also but both just give me a busy signal.

By the department group number do you mean the "pilot" vm #. I think it is setup for 811. When I dial that is gives me a busy signal as well...

Very frustrating.

Ok another update.

After removing the DMS card and deleting the slot and reinserting it, I had some success.

I can now get to the Voicemail Admin area from my phone but there is a new problem...

The voicemail system is not recognizing any of my key commands. I hit the number keys but it doesn't recognize them. So I can actually do anything once connected to the voicemail system...

Any ideas?
