Hey Guys - I "inherited" a customer with an NEC Aspire phone system. I have never worked on the Aspire, plenty of DSX's...but not Aspire. There are 2 working lines on this system and I am trying to add a 3rd line. After I brought the 3rd line to the KSU I pressed the CO3 button and it says "Hung Up". It does appear to be pre-programmed already. I did notice however that CO1 and CO2 had some sort of "resistor box" that the lines were tied to. Never seen these before on other systems.....never had to use one. Is it possible my CO3 line is too hot going into the KSU? I did not try to use the "resistor" from another CO on CO3 yet. Are these specific for Aspire and is this why I am not getting CO3 to work?

My Apsire has no resistor box for CO1 and CO2.
It goes straight from the land line to the trunk card.
Not sure if that helps.

Check your cabling for CO3 on the Block.
You may be looking at line protection on the other two co Lines.
You need to have a print of the block configuration.

I cross-connected CO3 right under CO's 1 and 2 on the 66 block and even checked the 8 conductor plug inside the KSU feeding the trunk card. I had good dial tone for CO3 on pins 2 and 7. The cable was the pre-made type that are made for NEC phone systems. Lines 1 and 2 work fine - when I press CO3 it waits about 5 seconds and the display reads "Hang Up". Line 3 also comes up on the screen on all phones that I checked...but does not get my CO3 dial tone.

Sorry, your email isn't allowing a PM and I will not post this in an open forum. That being said, it will never work the way you are doing it. I suggest getting an install manual for the pin outs.

Looked all over the place on the Internet for the installation manual, only saw user guides. There is an unused second plug stuck in the ksu below the trunk card and an unused female plug on the card itself (which I thought was for future COs 5-8). Now I am thinking this plug runs CO3 and CO4. I will tone that plug back to the block and try CO3 on there. Thought the card was 8 trunk, maybe it is only 4?
