Was wondering if you computer gurus had any suggestions for internet filtering software. I want my kid to be able to get on the net w/out me looking over his shoulder all the time. Thanks

I'm curious about this one too. My oldest only likes to mash the keyboard with other toys so far, but she'll be surfing soo enough.

Some of the dial-up isp's have filtering software. Also you can purchase software from Net Nanny, Cyber Patrol, Cyber Sitter. I just did a google search for "Internet Filtering Software" and these three came up at once. We use` N2H2 Bess proxy filter at the school district where I work and it works well also. You used to be able th get an annual subscription from them, but they were recently bought out and I am not sure about subscriptions now.

I don't know why they don't put porn sites on a .xxx instead of .com or net. and maybe put family sites on a .fam that way you could code a browser to only access .fam for kids. That would make it much easier, but those that run it haven't figured that one out yet !! DUH I just password protect everysite on the Kids computer and only allow the ones they go to: PBS, nickjr, ect. under Internet options Not foolproof but it seems to work so far. You can also use your host file to filter sites go to: https://accs-net.com/hosts/ for more info on that [This message has been edited by Crabb (edited November 12, 2004).]
