Okay, I thought your application must be a little unusual, otherwise any 11 year old in your household or neighborhood could show you how to burn "mix" cd's!

I tried cnverting mp3 to wav on Winamp 5.24 and it works OK. The tiny icon for the main menu is just above the file icon. When you select options then preferences and diskwriter a more detailed configuration is necessary. You have to check a box for output: either the same directory as the source (can't do this if the mp3's are on a cdrom) or get a "save as" dialog for each track.

You then have to specify the conversion type. PCM and wav are the same in this context. When you choose really low sampling rates and resolution like 11 KHz, 8 bit, mono, the wav file is actually smaller than the source mp3!--but sounds like a cheap AM radio. I think that 16 bit sounds better than 8 bit whereas low sampling rates such as 12 KHz don't seem as bad.

You mention 10 files. Is that 10 songs or can you fit a bunch of songs into each file? You'll probably need a sound editing program such as Audacity to splice the wav files together. It gets tricky if the files are sampled at different rates.

Biggest question? Who decides which 10 or 20 songs get chosen for MOH?

only 11 yo in this house has 4 legs and wears a red coat.

Since it's my inhouse system I am playing with I get to choose the tune for me. But in the real world the end user can choose any one of the 10. ie your DID could play #5 and mine #7.
