Have been using the beta 2 for the past couple of months. It works OK for a test release, though it's by no means a finalized product.
It's not as fast as Firefox 3.0.4, (on average about 5%-10% slower) but it renders some pages more accurately. There's also a "compatibility" icon that applies strict standards-based rendering on pages that may need it. The pages of the Sundance board do not show this icon (the icon is page context-based) :thumb:
Seems the board is 100% html-standards based.
Microsoft promises that by release time they'll have speed parity with FF. Let's see. I like the fact that both seem eager to "sell" their software based on compatibility with the standards.

I've been using it myself both at home and at work. I really have no complaints about it. I've rarely used the compatibility feature, and when I have just to see what it will do, there's not that much of a difference.

What I DO like is that when one tab crashes, it "remembers" the other tabs even if it brings IE down. I do a lot of research and this helps tremendously.

Not AGAIN. When IE7 was released it made my WINCLEAN useless. I got the new one and after 8 tries and little or no help from WINCLEAN, it STILL says "Improperly Installed"! However, I'm told that there is a scrap of the old WINCLEAN in my registry and I need to delete it. Now if I only knew how! frown John C.

John, I don't know winclean from windirty smile , but IE 8 runs more involved security checks (there is even a default button called "safety" that handles private browsing, security reporting etc). When I installed, it asked if it was OK to deactivate certain add-ons, and it insisted on deactivating others that apparently are not up to IE 8 standards. Maybe Winclean runs browser add-ons that run afoul of the new security regime.
Also make sure you have Windows patched to the latest hotfixes, and run Microsoft Update immmediately after install. There's an important security patch that's IE 8 related.
Most of all, this is not production software.

I was using IE8 and trying out Chrome from Google.

I recently installed the McAfee Security Center but it failed due to IE 8 being installed. I had to downgrade back to IE 7 before McAfee Security Center would launch. Kind of made me think McAfee is not ready for it...

Update. I canceled my McAfee subscription and got a refund. That program slowed down my computer so much I had to wait 10 minutes to be able to actually do anything. I went with F-secure.

Mcafee and Norton have become bloated dogs. I also use a no name that has done really well for me. I never even took IE7, by the time they get one right they have a new one out.
