I like LogMeIn for permanent remote hands (especially remote networks like customer's servers, etc). It is also free to use.

I also use TeamViewer on customer's computers where I don't already have LogMeIn installed on them. Or for a customer where they need remote hands rarely. They have a customer module which does not install any software to the computer, just runs when you open the .exe.

Since it sounds like you are on a local network with the computer you want access to, I recommend UltraVNC or any of the VNC clones. They work nicely on the local network and the installs are small and take up next to no resources.
