I have been using 8 on my personal computers for several months and I have no problems with it. I have not deployed it to my office environment and probably wont for several more months. Im a fan of the address bar that helps you find things easier. When your trying to find a website youve been to but cant quite remember the address you can type any part of the address and IE will find matches, so if youve been to superduperwidgets.com you can type duper in the address bar and IE will pull up this URL. Firefox has this feature and its one of the main reasons i used it but now the majority of my surfing time is spent using IE8. IE8 is also pretty fast at loading pages. The fastest browser ive ever used.

Mark, I have it on 2 of the office desktops and my good laptop. All with XP pro. No problems that I'm aware of but I do use Firefox most of the time.

I had issues with our admin software initially (the only reason I run IE) , but after some tweaking of "internet options" it works smoothly now. Are you using it for any admin software, or is it strictly a personal computer?

If it is your personal computer, I would suggest the Opera Browser , it has been one of personal favorites for years.

I use it at work...sometimes. Usually it is Firefox, but some websites seem to mess up on occasion so I have to switch to IE. No problems so far.

I've been using it with Server2008. So far the only complaint I have is that if the laptop is not properly shut down, say the battery runs out, I lose all of my cookies. So I have to log back in here and all the other sites that would normally remember me. Not a huge deal, but it is annoying.

Oh, and occasionally one of the tabs will get stuck. The page on that tab looks like it's still loading, but nothing is happening. Other tabs will be OK for a bit, but then it starts to do funny things...you click links and nothing happens, etc.

A nice feature is the compatibility mode, so if you do visit a page that doesn't load properly in IE8, you can switch to compatibility mode and all should be fine. Of course this feature is only useful because some pages will not load properly in IE8...so it's not exactly something you'll miss if you stick with IE7.

There are a few things that are handy, but they've really just borrowed ideas from Firefox add ins, except these are called Accelerators. You can highlight text or a URL, and a little icon pops up, from which you can search, blog, or whatever based on what you highlighted.

I will second the Opera recommendation. I always have Opera and Firefox installed in addition to IE.
