sam i know the too proud for charity thing, may i suggest checking a computer liquidator in your area, i buy all my laptops there, corporate machines 1-2 years old for pennies with warranties. They are scratched and dented and easy to pass off as junk, the one im using even runs windows 7!

Jay -
Thanks for the tip! Actually the young lady got a laptop as a freebee from the college.
She took that.
I wish I would have known before I put all the money and effort into this one! :bang:
In any event, all is well.

sam but in all seriousness, as a salaried IT professional by day i see the prices on these "enterprise" level machines. they are through the stratosphere, and for some strange reason the surplus machines from a univeristy on canadas east coast end up in all the liquidators in montreal. and they are dirt cheap and often have the balance of the dell complete care warranty, this one i am using right now... had 3 years left on the complete care. there are lots of these places out there, you have to know where to look. whats nice with dells enterprise machines, they still have a com port!
