I would max the ram out to 2GB. Anything more is a waste, should be able to get this done for $50.
Also, cutting down on porn and poker websites will eliminate 99% of the malware installed on your machines.

When I used windows I ran registry cleaner, Spybot, and Adaware at least twice a week. I would actually run disk defragmenter at least once a week. Even the best firewalls and antivirus programs won't keep all the data mining and key logging programs out - which really slow down your computer.
