IE8 seems to work well. I like the inPrivate browsing. You can use that for checking bank information, etc without worrying about cookies being left behind.
Does the InPrivate dealie also supress .sol files, aka "persistent cookies?" I have a sinking feeling that is doesn't. If anyone is wondering what the heck sol files are, they are "configuration" files for Flash that can be used by websites to store any information they want, not just Flash info. Online banking sites, for example, use them to store password information. They can hide in the following location on Windows XP:
C:\Documents and Settings\[
username]\Application Data\Macromedia\Flash Player\macromedia.com\support\flashplayer\sys
as well as:
C:\Documents and Settings\[
username]\Application Data\Macromedia\Flash Player\#SharedObjects\[
subdir\]
and:
C:\Documents and Settings\[
username]\Application Data\Adobe\Flash Player\AssetCache\[
subdir\]
In the above, [
username] is whatever name you are logged in as. Also, Adobe Macromedia is pushing a new version now, if you have the latest version the sol files may be somewhere completely different (just to keep us on our toes).
Take a look in these folders, on some machines they contain hundreds or even thousands of "persistent cookies." It can read like a "who's who" of every web site you ever visited...
