What are you guys using to do remote access into DOS based voice mail systems? Can a computer using Windows based PC Anywhere dial into a computer using DOS based PC Anywhere. Any freeware out there that would do the same? I am assuming the modem drivers are just downloaded from the web and installed.

Z-man,
I keep a laptop with windows 98 on it just for that reason. PC anywhere does work great also, don't know about freeware as I just bought the program so I could use it on more than one PC.
Hope this helps.

There are quite a few older terminal servers you can put on a DOS box that will wait for a connection, and you can use any terminal application like hyperterminal to connect. Works very well... and most of the time, you can find them for free on the internet because they're so old now.

I can't remember any specific titles, but if you do a google search -- I bet you can find something.

Z-Man,
Yes, a PC using pcAnywhere WIN can connect with a DOS version of pcAnywhere (I still use the old Version 8.0. The Version 8.0 CD even has the DOS Version 5.0 on it).

I typically use Hyperterm to get into systems, both phone switch and voice mail, either remotely or directly cabled.

To keep things really simple, I still use Windows 98 SE on my PC's for phone work.

I would probably need the PC Anywhere on a floppy. Most of the VM systems we have don't have CD Roms. Did all the older versions of PC anywhere have a DOS version?

Hello everyone!

I have been using Closeup which is not a free program but it does give you both a DOS & Windows Option. We install the host, DOS on the voicemails and use our windows based pc's to perform remote on them and it works great!!
