I can't get past the win2000 log in screen to get to the desktop.

Not sure if this will help but you might try and get windoze to go to safe mode by pressing F8 several times during boot up.

If this is succesfull you should be able to go to Settings,Control Panel,Users and passwords and reset the Administrator password.

I have done this before but it may not work on every PC.

It just hit me, Damn I'm sorry, I thought you were talking about the Key Voice. Here I was wondering why you were having so much trouble when all you had to do was click on the icon. You should have slapped me up side my head.
As far as I know you can't get rid of the log on to win 2000 without re-installing, it's pretty secure unlike the other versions. You might want to give Tip and Ring's idea a try and I'll post it in the Computer cat. and maybe one of them guru's will know a trick.

zman,
try administrator as a user name leave the password blank. if that doesn't work try administrator as user name and admin as password.
i used to have a program that cracked the nt2000 password, I'll email it to you if i find it
